Peter Pracilio
Born in New York and raised
in Chicago, Pracilio's family and surroundings have
instilled art as a part of his life from the very beginning.
Feeling the desire to not necessarily find a path,
but to forge his own from life lessons and experiences,
Pracilio traveled throughout America, settling in Colorado.
Believing that the natural surroundings would further
inspire the ability to create, Pracilio worked with
every artistic medium that fell in front of him, such
as paint, pre-cast concrete, glassblowing and sculpture.
After realizing that he was creating some of the most
progressive form development and design of pre-cast
concrete without any formal design background. Pracilio
decided to return to his hometown of NYC, to advance
his successes and further cultivate his natural talents
and ideas by attending The Pratt Institute and refining
his abilities in the Industrial Design department.
While at Pratt, Pracilio became a leading member and
top student within the Design Department, heading a
Creative Trio that would go on to win the 2006 Umbra
Design Award for their designs; The Splat and Citro-one
juicer. After emotionally and technically expanding
past Pratt's resources, the next step was evident.
It was time to focus on a broader scale, becoming assessable
to people and their needs. It was time to focus on
life and design. With influences on furniture, fine
art, interiors, film production, product design and
lighting. Pracilio has worked with such firms as Make
Product Development, Cake LLC. And Mark Goetz Furniture
design. To fuse art with design, and necessity. designGO!
was launched by Peter Pracilio in early 2007.
eiCrate
The idea behind the eiCrate
was to create an attractive and interesting form that
duly functions as an appealing structure for the home
and houses a beloved family member. Utilizing materials
commonly associated to pet housing units, I began to
explore various structures consciously aware of the
needs of my own and pet owners alike. To design a home
for both consumer and user, my design process primarily
focused on all of the above addressed issues without
infringing upon design and beautiful style. the primary
source of inspiration for the home are found through
gestural expressions observed in transportation or
rather, automotive design, blended with volumetric
studies.
The eiCrate's all steel wire crate design is focused
around the habitat of miniature pets in the household.
This "crate with no corners" will relieve the anxiety
not only for the pet owner on the hunt for a crate,
but also their loved one they are looking to house.
The eCRATE knocks down to half its size for easier
storage when not in use. The crate includes a removable
crate liner. A form fit cover will also available for
purchase for those cold nights. With a low raw materials
cost and mininal fabrication this design is a perfect
fit for any modern pet product or furniture line.
"Why must the dog crate be such an eyesore ? With the
pet market on the constant rise , I was surprised not
to find anything new. For many small breeds crating
is a necessity and I wanted to make the experience
less obtusive"
